Someone's Somebody

Posted on 14:06 by Unknown
You don't need no intuition
All you need is a beating heart
Ain't no math you need to figure
Nothing here you can pick apart

Does it feel good to you, baby?
Does it feel good to you, baby?
'Cause if it feels just like it should
It's gonna feel so good, baby

You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone
You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone

These nights get so lonely
Just the candles and the moon
But as you're waiting for that someone
Someone's out there waiting for you

It'll feel so good to you, baby
'Cause if it feels just like it should
It's gonna feel so good, baby

You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone
You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone

It could be summertime, the middle of the fall
But nothing will matter then
No, it won't matter at all

You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone
You're gonna be someone's somebody
You're gonna be somebody's someone

Someone's Somebody - Dave Barnes

...Thanks for the reminder Dave.

Looking Back

Posted on 08:11 by Unknown
I am not a journal writing kind of person. It just isn't my thing.
I have well over 10 journals that have maybe 10 pages written in, and the rest are blank.
In a lot of ways, this blog serves as a journal for me.
I don't share everything, but I do share a lot on here.

I am reading a book called The Land Between, which has been so good for my soul; reflecting on what has been, what is, and what will be. The past few years have felt undefined, which is a whole other post in the making. This morning, I was looking up who has been reading this blog, how they got here, and all the other geeky things that Google Analytics allows me to see. I saw that someone came to my blog when putting in someone's name, a person that I had mentioned in a previous post.

At first, I didn't want to read the post. I didn't want to re-live, once again, all that the post held. Alas, I got over it and read it. I am so glad I did. Glad for a few reasons.

1. I am proud of the way I handled myself in that situation. I wasn't bitter or angry or hard, I just stated the facts and looked to the future.
2. Thinking back to when I was dreaming of Nashville, it felt good that my last words were, "here's to chasing dreams." I hope that I never stop chasing my dreams.

Life hasn't been easy, but God never said it would be. In fact, it is pretty evident all throughout scripture that it is going to be anything BUT easy. As obscure as it may sound, I am glad for that. My bumps and bruises, nicks and scrapes, have taught me so much and have helped to mold me into the person that I am.

Book Worm

Posted on 11:10 by Unknown
I am a total book worm.

I don't like to borrow books from friends, loan my books out, check books out from the library, or anything of the sort. I like to own my books. If I like a book enough to tell you about it, I will try to convince you to buy it, or I will buy it for you myself. If I really love a book, I devour it in a day. Sometimes, I have to force myself to take my time, so the book can last longer; these are the best kinds of books.

Right now, I am in the middle of 4 books. One is a re-read situation, the other 3 are brand new to me. Along with those 4 on my list, I have 3 more waiting to be read.

In my purse, I have:
The Land Between

and

Permission To Speak Freely

On my nightstand, I have:
Searching For God Knows What
and
Angry Conversations with God

On my shelf, waiting to be read is:
Grace Eventually

If I had a Borders gift card, I would purchase these beauties:
Bittersweet

and
Cold Tangerines

What are you reading?

Not Like The Movies

Posted on 14:33 by Unknown
Not Like The Movies

He put it on me, I put it on,
Like there was nothing wrong.
It didn't fit,
It wasn't right.
Wasn't just the size.
They say you know,
When you know.
I don't know.

I didn't feel
The fairytale feeling, no.
Am I a stupid girl
For even dreaming that I could.

If it's not like the movies,
Tha'ts how it should be, yeah.
When he's the one,
I'll come undone,
And my world will stop spinning
And that's just the beginning, yeah.

Snow white said when I was young,
"One day my prince will come."
So I wait for that date.
They say its hard to meet your match,
Find my better half.
So we make perfect shapes.

If stars don't align,
If it doesn't stop time,
If you cant see the sign,
Wait for it.
One hundred percent,
With every penny spent.
He'll be the one that,
Finishes your sentences.

If it's not like the movies,
That's how it should be.
When he's the one,
He'll come undone,
And my world will stop spinning,
And tha'ts just the beginning.

'Cause I know you're out there,
And your, your love came for me.
It's a crazy idea that you were made,
Perfectly for me you'll see.

Just like the movies.
That's how it will be.
Cinematic and dramatic with the perfect ending.
It's not like the movies,
But that's how it will be.
When he's the one,
You'll come undone,
And your world will stop spinning,
And it's just the beginning.

Feeling Stuck

Posted on 13:55 by Unknown
In so many ways, I couldn't be happier with my life right now.

I have the best friends a girl can ask for. I have a good job with amazing benefits. I live in San Diego. I am working alongside some influential people on a wonderful event. I get to go up to The Hollywood Bowl to work at different concerts. I get to go to concerts and shows. I go to the beach. I do whatever I want. It's nice.

Even in all of that excitement and joy, I find myself feeling stuck at times.

I am 25 years old with a college degree, yet I can't seem to get a job that will pay me enough to make it possible to pay my bills AND pay rent more than I pay to my parents. I have a great job that provides for my bills as they stand today, but there is no room for moving out and spreading my wings.

Don't get me wrong. I love living with Mom and Clyde. We have a blast. I respect their space and they respect mine. We're good roommates. All that to say, I am sure they would like to know what it feels like to be empty-nesters and I would like to have my own space.

I'm just feeling stuck.

I guess the grass is always greener...

California

Posted on 22:43 by Unknown
I have lived in Southern California for most of my life.

We spent about 18 months in Northern California when I was really young then headed to Texas for about 4 years. After high school I moved to Seattle for a year of school before heading back to San Diego. During my last semester of college, and the 6 months following College graduation, I lived in Arizona. From Arizona, I moved half way to Nashville, before turning around and coming back to San Diego. All that to say, San Diego is home.

I realized a few weeks ago that there is SO much that I have never done in California.

Here are some of the "I've Never" things...

Been to Palm Springs
Been to Mammoth Mountain
Been to Sequoia National Park
Been to Yosemite
Biked across the Golden Gate Bridge
Been to a Dodger game
Walked the Hollywood Stars
Been to Grauman's Chinese Theatre
Been wine tasting in Napa
Been to a game at The Rose Bowl
Been Sailing

I want to do all of these things... and I know that I will some day.

Who's up for a road trip? :)

Another one bites the dust...

Posted on 08:16 by Unknown
It is no secret that I am no stranger to crushes.

Crushes come. Crushes go. It is the ebb and flow of life. My crushes last from minutes to years. 99% of the time, errrr 100% of the time, crushes are just that... nothing more. In fact, many of my crushes have gone on to date, get engaged, and get married (and some even get divorced).

Am I the only girl that gets a little sad when words comes around of a crush getting into a relationship, engaged, or married?

I mean, don't get me wrong. I am HAPPY for these crushes. I want them to be happy. But let's be honest ladies, a little part of us always hopes it will be us.

Either that or I am a nut and am all alone on Crush Island. :)

AMMENDMENT
Let it also be said that there have been crushes that have gotten Engaged or Married to which I give a big sigh of relief that I am not the one with a ring on my finger from said crush. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. :)

DIY

Posted on 17:36 by Unknown
When My Mom, my sister Patti, and I, moved to San Diego after our time in Texas, my Grandparents gave my mom a dresser, since we didn't have much when we moved back.

I have since inherited the dresser.

It is old.

It tells stories.

I LOVE it.

It is looking a little dingy these days though. One drawer is broken, another is has a broken pull. It needs some TLC.

Nova has always inspired me with her DIY (Do It Yourself) style. She has the CUTEST house. Most of the stuff in her house is from thrift or antique stores and she has given it some love and made it new. SOOOOOO... It is my turn. :)

Next Saturday, I will be embarking on my first DIY project of my own. I have done plenty for and with others, never one by and for me. I am really looking forward to it.

I am going to remove the current knobs, fix the broken drawer, check all of the other drawers to see if they need reinforcement, sand down all drawers and the dresser, fill in the current holes on the large drawers and drill new holes for the new knobs, primer the dresser, paint it either blue or white, distress it, and then install the new knobs.

It's going to be a long day, but I can't wait to do it.

I will post before and after pictures.

Here are the knobs that I am dreaming of...

For the 3 Small Drawers:

For the 6 Large Drawers:

As much as I want them, I refuse to spend $200 on HARDWARE.

I have a love/hate relationship with Anthropologie.

I am attempting something that I once thought was impossible.

I am going to do a few things, everyday for the month of August.

It's going to be hard.

I know that.

I am excited to wake up on September 1st, knowing that I fought hard to meet my goal.

Day One: SUCCESS :)
