Megan Brady
Posted on 11:25 by Unknown
Megan and I met in 2003, when we were both in our Freshman year at Seattle Pacific University.
In the almost 10 years since we met, Megan has become and remained one of the people I hold closest in my life.
Megan and I have done Disneyland like the princesses we are - complete with an appearance in a parade, an escort to the front of rides, and a stay in a Mickey Mouse Suite. True Story.
Megan and I have sang our hearts out at Karaoke - sometimes not realizing what the words are going to sounds like coming from our mouths until we are singing them. Here's a tip, maybe don't sing Teenage Dream by Katy Perry. Just take our word for it.
We have had soup from Met Market while sitting at Kerry Park more times that we can count. The same goes for Frozen Yogurt stops.
We have sent each other countless Mixed CD's - all of which are still in regular rotation in my car.
It isn't unusual to get a random card in the mail.
We have laughed and cried.
We have prayed.
We have journeyed 18-28 and all of the ups and downs that come with those years. Hope, heartbreak, college graduation, jobs, more heartbreak, getting our hearts healthy, getting our bodies healthy... we have been through A LOT together.
Today is Megan's special day. Today is a day that is set aside to remind Megan how loved she is. Today is a day to remind Megan that she is valued and is a gift.
Megan - I am so thankful that, for some crazy reason, I decided to move from Sunny San Diego to Grey Seattle for my freshman year of college. I am thankful that I had a crazy roommate situation that allowed me the opportunity to move to Hill Hall. I am thankful that we became friends and have continued to cultivate that friendship throughout the years.
You continually push me to be the best version of myself. You encourage me to seek Jesus by the way you live your life. Your love for God is infectious. The hope that you have is inspiring. I am a better person because I call you friend.
Happy Birthday, Megan. Cheers to 28.

CAbi

Thanks to Rhonda, I have become somewhat of a CAbi addict.
The jeans fit me well.
The tops are so cute.
The sweaters are cozy and structured just right.
This year, Rhonda invited me to get a sneak peek of the 2013 Spring line at The Scoop Fashion Show. I am not sure if it was the best idea for me to attend. There are a few items in the line that I am fairly convinced I cannot live without.

I Believe
Posted on 23:43 by Unknown
I.
I believe.
I believe that.
I believe that we.
I believe that we will win.
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!
There is something about hearing the student section - and the whole arena for that matter - chanting I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN. The feeling of unity in the room as those words are being chanted is intoxicating. You can't help but join in and believe.
If only the Church was intoxicating like this.
Challenge accepted.

Approx. 1,100 Miles
Posted on 08:02 by Unknown
Approximately 1,100 miles separate Chelsea and I during most of the year. Between my trips to Colorado, her trips to San Diego, and our trips near and far, we try to make sure those miles don't keep us apart for too long.
Chelsea is one of my dearest friends. She has been there through some real ups an downs of my 20's and I couldn't be more thankful that I have a friend like her on my side. She is caring and consistent and listens to the words that go unsaid. She is a gift.
Chelsea came into town for about 24 hours to drive with a friend to CO. Of course, we had to get together. No question! Even if the reunion is just for 20 minutes in an airport, if we are within an hour of one another, we make the reunion happen. Has to. No excuses, play like a champion.
So thankful for my friend Chelsea. Wish there weren't 1,100 miles between us... Thankful we haven't let those miles change out closeness.

Foreword...
Posted on 10:30 by Unknown
It is usually a pretty good sign that you are about to read a really good book when even the foreword makes you nod in agreement...
-Foreword by Prof. Edward D. O'Connor, C.S.C. University of Notre Dame
Run Baby Run
"I have often wondered about this, and what comes to my mind over and over is the parable of the marriage feast (Matthew 22:1-14). When the invited guests did not show, the master told his servants, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor, and the cripples, and the blind, and the lame' (Luke 14:21). When even that did not suffice, the servants were sent out once more, this time to the highways and hedges, with the order, 'Make them come in, so that my house may be filled.'
I believe that this is what we are seeing take place today. The 'invited guests' at the table of the Lord, that is the "born Christians," the righteous, the law-abiding members of society, have too often proved themselves unworthy. They have 'gone to Church.' but they have not really partaken of the banquet provided by the King. This is why the Church, instead of being a living Body and a Challenging witness, so often appears as an ineffectual pious custom."

Just say it...
Posted on 21:40 by Unknown
It is all too easy to leave a conversation without saying what really needs to be said. We have a "tough" conversation but rarely say the REALLY tough stuff. We leave off the last 10%. Sometimes it is perfectly acceptable and appropriate to leave off the last 10% but sometimes it is not only necessary but imperative that we speak truth.
I am so thankful for the people in my life that have earned the right to speak that last 10%. These people speak the 10% from a place of deep love and care. They have been there through ups and downs, highs and lows... they have earned the right to speak and to be heard.
I don't know which is more terrifying, being the person on the giving or receiving end of the last 10%. I have been on the receiving end on more than one occasion and it can be terribly uncomfortable. Tears flow. Words are spoken - and can't be unspoken. It comes and goes. In the end, I am a better person because of those conversations. Being the person who speaks the last 10% is scary and tough and takes a lot of courage.
If you tell someone that you love them, your actions need to reflect that - namely being willing to say the hard things.
Honesty.
Complete, brutal, gut-wrenching honesty.
It's not only necessary it is required.
So, take a risk and speak the last 10%... it will make both people stronger.

Sometimes you have to throw the "rules" out the window and risk.

Closing out 2012
Posted on 01:43 by Unknown
2012, I ain't mad atcha.
Closing out 2012 and ringing in 2013 with some of my favorite people was the perfect way to celebrate.
The tiara helps to make the trashy bib classy. Kind of. Not really. Just go with it.
"Is it weird that I want to lick this right off of the table?" -Kathlene
My New Years Kiss... so much cuter than yours!
(Hopefully you didn't have to pay yours a dollar like I did.)

Brought in 2013 dancing with some of my favorite ladies. Wouldn't have had it any other way. Well, maybe I wouldn't have worn the heels. No matter what Kim (both of them) says, heels aren't worth it.
Cheers to 2013 and all that comes with a New Year and New Beginning...
