Gina is one of my dearest friends.
We met during my freshman year at SPU in some Youth Ministry classes. We instantly bonded. We did every group project together (which Gina DOES NOT procrastinate so it was a learning process for me to not put things off), we kidnapped our favorite professor and headed north to Canada for the day, and we drove home to Southern California at the end of the year.
A few years ago, Gina got married to a wonderful man. Keep in mind, they were together for like 9 years before getting married. Gina and Kevin live in an adorable house in Huntington Beach, within miles of each of their parents.
Back in December, after countless attempts at a good date to hang out, we planned on Presidents Day Weekend, as Kevin would be out of town and I would have a 4 day weekend. We set it stone and didn't let anything get in the way. No baby shower, birthday party, art show, ladies night, or anything else would get in the way.
I spent Friday-Sunday with Gina, and her parents too. We saw Valentine's Day, went to dinner at the great Mexican food place, watched Sex and The City, walked around downtown Huntington and along the beach, hung out with family, and sat in the hot tub with wine. The whole weekend was good for my soul.
Gina and her parents are just great people. People who feel like home. People who love the Lord and love people. I feel deeply blessed and honored to know Gina, Bruce and Becky. And Lara too. :)
