That is Number 4 for all of you non-Spanish speakers. :)
I was recently catching up with a friend over Pomegranate Margaritas and Chips & White Sauce at Miguel's, as I often do, and I was reminded, once again, of just how much my cup tends to runneth over. Destiny, the person not the thing, reminded me that even having 2 close, reliable, and tangible friends makes a person rich. Since I know that this is true, I also much admit that I think I won the lottery when it comes to friendships. (Consider this a follow-up to my blog about friendships that aren't.)
I have amazing friends all over the place. Seattle, Sonora, Chandler, San Bernadino, LA, Irvine, Nashville, Spartanburg, Oklahoma City, Lynchburg, Portland, Phoenix, San Diego, Boulder, and so many more places feel like home to me. These places feel like home because of the people that live there. Again, I am rich.
Just yesterday, I met a friend for coffee after work. I left Point Loma, headed north on the 5 to Del Mar.
(Side-note, the Starbucks that we met at was right next to a Papyrus store. If you have read this blog for longer than a few posts or know me at all, you know that I LOVE to write REAL letters and cards and that Papyrus stationery is BY FAR my favorite. I can't be next to a store without going in. I walked out with 80 cards that are just waiting to be mailed.)
We sat for a couple of hours just catching up on life. We talked about everything and nothing at the same time. We did what friends do. We talked about life and all that it entails.
From Del Mar, I headed back to Point Loma, where I hung out with my precious Freighbor (Friend+Neighbor=Freighbor). Again, we talked about life and all that it entails. Again, we did what friends do.
From Freighbor's house, I headed to my favorite Fiji Yogurt for a yogurt date with another friend. As with the other friend encounters yesterday, we talked about life. We did what friends do.
All this to say, Today, I am thankful for my friends. I am thankful for the friends that loved me through my freak-out of a lifetime in Ireland. I am thankful for my friends that didn't judge me for moving half-way to Nashville and then turning around to head back to San Diego. I am thankful for my friends that send me cards just because. I am thankful for friends that are honest with me and expect honesty in return. I am thankful for friends that speak that hard truths to me.
I am thankful for the ridiculous amount of ridiculously amazing friends that I have.
I am rich!
